ACKS Charitable Trust Research

In this section, you can learn about the research studies, projects and education enabled by the Charitable Trust.

At its inception, we conducted the “First American CKCS Club Breed Survey” in conjunction with the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club (AKC parent club for the CKCS in the United States).  This study assisted the Charitable Trust in targeting research and education that was most beneficial to the Cavalier breed.

Now, nearly twenty years later, breeder efforts and health strides funded by organizations like the Charitable Trust are resulting in longer-lived and healthier Cavaliers. Our recently funded study with Rejuvenate Bio on cardio-protective gene therapy to stop heart failure progression in dogs gives us hope for an even healthier future for all dogs.

While the Charitable Trust funds projects and grants to benefit Cavaliers, there is not a single health condition unique to Cavaliers. The research we assist often benefits other dogs, other animals, and even human beings.
